Hey hey! I'm new here so I guess introductions are in order.
My name’s Lena. I’m 20, American, female, bisexual, Aries and white. I like Metroid and the Ramones and not much else. Nah, kidding. I'm starting an account here because some of my friends are migrating here from Tumblr. I don't plan on leaving Tumblr personally, but in case Dreamwidth turns out to be the next big thing I thought I'd go ahead and establish a presence here.
I'm missfortune1977 on Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram, so if that name sounds familiar it's because we are one and the same. I also go by bubblegumscout (or bubblegum--scout) for my art-only accounts. I'm still figuring out how best to interact with this site in terms of uploading my art, so I'm not sure if I should start a separate account for art, or what. I tell you what, if Tumblr really does go down I'm gonna miss the ability to operate multiple blogs from one account.
Anyway! Like I mentioned I am an artist. I'm a sophomore illustration major (though I'm considering transferring to animation) and I've been posting my art online since I was fourteen (if you wanna see some embarrassing weeb shit check out my theotaku.com account from way back when. Or, check out my slightly newer, slightly less embarrassing second account that I rarely ever use anymore! Speaking of which, I miss TheO. It was on the decline even when I joined in 2012, but I had some good times there. But hey, such is life.
I'm a big comic book nerd. I used to be really into mainstream superhero stuff, but Marvel and DC let me down a few times too many so these days when I read comics it's mostly indie/creator-owned stuff. Some of my favorites are Monstress, Scott Pilgrim, Hellboy, Hopeless Savages, ApocalyptiGirl, Drugs and Wires, LeveL, and basically anything Faith Erin Hicks and Gene Luen Yang do. And speaking of comics I have my own webcomic! It's called Kagamureand it's full of hijinks and probably spaceships and you should read it. I'm hosting it on Tumblr right now because I'm too dumb to figure out how to set up a WordPress site like all the cool kids, but Tumblr is actually a decent webhost if you know what you're doing.
Anyway! I guess that's all my shit. HMU if you want to talk about comics or punk rock or whatever, I love meeting new people. I'd love to chat with other webcomic creators and/or freelance illustrators and talk shop and swap comic recs and whatnot.
Peace

comments
